If you haven’t commissioned artwork before, here’s a little information on how I work:
When you get in touch with me, we’ll discuss your request, and decide on things like the size of picture you’d like done, and what medium you’d like the work executed in (acrylics, watercolour, etc). I’ll be happy to show you a selection of similar images to help with your choice.
I work from photographs, so I’ll need you to supply a good picture of the subject. I can make minor changes such as neatening hair, but major changes (such as a different facial expression) aren’t possible – if you’d like specific alterations made to a picture, I’m happy to discuss what’s possible in more detail. If you’re taking photos especially for the portrait, my advice is to take lots of them and then choose later which one suits your needs, rather than trying to take the perfect shot in one go.
Once the details are agreed on, I’ll give you a quote for the work, and how long it’ll take me. Assuming those are acceptable, I’ll begin work.
Because I work in a layered fashion, my paintings tend to look horrible right up to the point where they look good, so I don’t supply in-progress photos – they don’t give a good sense of what the finished picture will look like, and will only worry you!
Once I’m finished, I’ll get in touch. I’ll send you a photo of your artwork, and then once payment is received I’ll post the original work to you.
Pricing:
My prices are dependant on the size of artwork and the medium used, which will effect how long I spend working on a piece. The items below are by no means an exhaustive list, but should help you get an idea of my prices.
